As official representative of the City of Rotterdam, RCRO aims to initiate, coordinate and facilitate exchange projects in broad range of areas between Shanghai and Rotterdam. During the period 25-30 march, Rotterdam Vice Mayor Lucas Bolsius (responsible for Public Works, Sports, Finance and environment) visited Shanghai with a 22-member delegation. In attendance of Mr.Richard E.Ouwerkerk, dean Willem De Kooning Academy, WDK-student Leonie Smelt, won the Creative Technology Prize.

In June 2008, Mayor Opstelten will lead the largest Rotterdam delegation to date to visit Shanghai. Highlight of this visit will be 2 performances by RCRO-participant Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. The Orchestra's Shanghai visit is part of a wider Asia tour.
